Our Story

Born from a Love of Wild Places

Peak-fjord began as a conversation between three friends sheltering from rain in a Highland bothy. We had spent years exploring Britain's trails individually, accumulating knowledge of hidden paths, local history, and the subtle art of reading mountain weather.

That evening, huddled around a wood stove, we realised something: the most memorable moments on the trail came not from the physical challenge, but from the stories our guides had shared, the unexpected detours that revealed secret waterfalls, and the camaraderie of walking together through changing landscapes.

We founded Peak-fjord to share those experiences with others who crave more than a simple walk. Each route we offer has been personally designed, tested, and refined by our team.

Our Approach

Small Groups, Big Experiences

We deliberately limit our group sizes to ensure every participant receives personal attention. Large tour buses and crowded trails are not what we do. When you join a Peak-fjord expedition, you become part of a small community of fellow explorers, each walking at a comfortable pace with space to breathe.

Our guides are not simply navigators; they are storytellers, naturalists, and local historians. They know where the golden eagles nest, which rocks hold fossils from ancient seas, and why certain valleys were shaped by ice millennia ago.

This depth of knowledge transforms a walk into a journey of discovery.

What Guides Us

Our Core Values

Safety First

Every route is assessed for conditions. Our guides carry emergency equipment and hold current first aid certifications. We never compromise on participant wellbeing.

Respect the Land

We follow Leave No Trace principles without exception. Supporting conservation efforts and local path maintenance is integral to how we operate.

Community Spirit

We partner with local businesses, recommend independent accommodations, and contribute to the rural economies through which we walk.

Protecting What We Love

The landscapes we explore are under pressure from climate change, erosion, and increasing visitor numbers. We take our responsibility seriously.

When you travel with Peak-fjord, a portion of your fee directly supports the protection of the places you visit.
